Matchday 19 of the Ang Liga tournament is set to take place later today at the football field inside the La Salle Science and Technology Complex in Laguna, with a tripleheader set to provide a little bit of clarity in the postseason.
The biggest matchup will take place in the morning, with Ateneo and the University of the Philippines set to rekindle their rivalry at 10am. Both sides seeking to use their come-from-behind victories last Sunday as momentum-pushers as they race for slots in the four-team postseason.
The Maroon Booters are currently in second place with fifteen points, and a win later will pivot them to the top of the table ahead of idle NU. The Blue Eagles on the other hand, are in seventh place with six points, and a win for them will allow them to reduce their gap in half against idle Lyceum and College of Saint Benilde, who have the last two postseason slots to themselves. At the same time, it will vault them ahead of idle UST, who are just one point ahead of them.
Meanwhile, the afternoon doubleheader features San Beda in separate matchups against NCAA opposition.
The Red Booters from Taytay will take on Perpetual in Div II play at 1pm, as they seek to solidify their position in the standings. A win will allow them to use their superior goal difference to take second place in the table.
Their brethren from Mendiola then take to the field at 3pm, looking to snap their two-match skid as they face off against Emilio Aguinaldo College. The Generals are fresh from securing their first win of the tournament last week. Like Ateneo, San Beda has six points to their name, although they have the better goal difference.
