Ricci Rivero's emergence as a reliable option this season for La Salle has been pretty noticeable in just his second season in the league, and this week was no exception.
On Wednesday, in their narrow 75-73 win over Far Eastern University, he led the Green Archers with twenty points, while also contributing two rebounds and four assists. He also anchored the "Mayhem" defensive scheme with five steals, which often led to transition plays like this one during the second quarter on his way to a twelve-point period.
These two games proved to be enough for the UAAP Press Corps to select him as their Player of the Week presented by Chooks-to-Go, beating out his teammate Ben Mbala, as well as Thirdy Ravena and Mark Olayon.
When asked about his increased production in the past couple of games, Ricci says that he just tried to play straight defense and the offense will follow through as long as he got to his right spots. He adds, "At first I always think of ways of helping the team and the coaches just told me to just stick to the game plan and they will find me on offense. I'll just do my job and they'll help me get my offense going."

He followed that up with another twenty-point outing last Sunday against the University of the Philippines, helping the defending champions avenge their loss in the first round with a 85-62 victory. The La Salle-Greenhills alum also added three rebounds, two assists, and a couple of steals to power La Salle to a 6-2 record. So nice, Ricci had to do it twice. #UAAPSeason80 pic.twitter.com/C0dQ6tTbtE— ABS-CBN Sports (@abscbnsports) October 11, 2017
