Regine Rebosura and Dionesa Tolentin’s goals propelled Far Eastern University past the University of Santo Tomas, 2-0, to remain at the top of the table in the UAAP Season 87 Collegiate Women’s Football Tournament on Saturday at the UP Diliman Football Stadium

FEU regained the top spot in the standings with 16 points and a plus-13 goal difference, below them are their finals opponents De La Salle University who have 14 points on a plus-eight goal difference.

Lady Tamaraws head coach Let Dimzon said they will treat the next game in the elimination round against La Salle as a simple game and iterated that it will be a chance for FEU’s bench to get quality minutes.

"Same parin. Although we know already kung ano ‘yong plays ng La Salle, but again, so from the previous game against them we just need to improve talaga how we're going to handle yong mga situations sa attacking-third,” said Dimzon.

Since non-bearing game naman yong game against La Salle, I think wala kaming kailangan i-worry. What will ever happen na mangyari doon sa game, much more important for me is magbigay ng quality time sa mga players na wala masyadong playing time,” she added.

Rebosura drew first blood for FEU after she blasted a shot from a cross past UST goalkeeper Lizlie Garcia in the fourth minute of the game.

The Lady Tamaraws had a chance to extend their lead in the 32nd minute but Kyza Colina failed to capitalize on an open net.

On the other end, Bianca Sy also garnered an opportunity to equalize in the 54th minute after her spot kick was mishandled by FEU goalkeeper Yasmin Elauria but was eventually cleared.

Tolentin found the back of the net from a perfectly-placed cross from Carmela Altiche in the 64th minute to extend FEU’s lead.

Garcia became impenetrable in the last minutes of the game, preventing Tolentino score again but UST’s offense failed to garner any chances, sealing their fate.

Despite the loss, the España squad remained in third place with five points and a minus-three goal difference.

UST will end Season 87 against the University of the Philippines at the same field on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 4:00 p.m.
