ONE Championship 2018 calendar set

Earlier on Wednesday, ONE Championship officially revealed its 2018 calendar, with 24 events scattered all across Asia.

Ten cities will have the chance to host a ONE Championship event in nine countries, with Manila, Jakarta, and Bangkok each getting four events. Shanghai, which just had its first ONE Championship event earlier this month, will have three events, just like Kuala Lumpur, while Singapore will have two events.

ONE Championship will also make their initial forays into South Korea and Japan next year, while Yangon and Beijing complete the cast of cities that comprises the 2018 calendar.

In releasing the 2018 schedule, ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Sityodtong says, "We are thrilled to announce our incredible 2018 calendar of events for ONE Championship. We have 24 massive shows planned for all sports fans in Asia and will continue to showase the absolute best in martial arts, delivered by our homegrown martial arts superheroes. 2018 is going to be an epic year of action and I can't wait to get things started."

2017 has been phenomenal for ONE Championship, with historic matchups having taken place or is on tap, with six more events lined up for the rest of the year. There has been three title changes so far, with Aung La N Sang, Martin Nguyen, and Adriano Moraes earning their title shots, while the likes of Ben Askren, Angela Lee, and Eduard Folayang remaining dominant in their divisions.

ONE Championship has also taken the opportunity to host authentic martial arts matches like traditional Lethwei and Silat during its events. It even had a special grappling super-match featuring Shinya Aoki and Garry Tonon. The company has also touted its increased reach in both television and social media, with increasing partnerships with some of the world's biggest global brands.
