No Mbala no problem for DLSU?
It was the guards who led the DLSU to their first victory of the season against the FEU Tamaraws in the UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
The FEU-DLSU game was a much awaited game after their encounter in one of the off-season tournaments that led to a lot of ejections.
But it was Aljun Melecio who provided a spark for the defending champions who finished the game with a career-high in his college career of 29 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; 20 of his total output came in the 1st half.
Andrei Caracut and Kib Montalbo helped in the scoring with 16 points and 12 points, respectively.
DLSU started the game strong dismantling the defense of the Tamaraws that gave them their biggest lead of 23. In the 4th qtr, the Tamaraws made a huge run that cut the deficit to as low as 5 points before failing to convert on 2 straight possessions.
Ron Dennison, the one in the middle of those controversy videos, led the charge for FEU with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. (c/o Kim Karlo Castro)
