National University Bulldogs started the UAAP Season 80 basketball tournament with a win yesterday, overpowering the University of the East Red Warriors 86-69 at Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
Dave Yu led the way for NU especially in the 3rd quarter that saw the Bulldogs on a 16-3 run to pushed their lead to 13, 58-45. NU won its first game under their new head coach Jamike Jarin, who led the San Beda Red Lions to last year’s NCAA title.
Yu finished the game with solid numbers of 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. 3 more players from the team finished with double digit scoring output.
Alvin Pasaol led the way for UE tallying 14 points and 4 rebounds.
