ONE Championship on Thursday officially announced its upcoming MMA event in Singapore, called ONE: Immortal Pursuit.
Set to take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on November 24, ONE: Immortal Pursuit already has two confirmed fights on its card, both of which are set to be historic for the promotion.
The main event features a title rematch, as defending ONE Women's Atomweight World Champion "Unstoppable" Angela Lee is once against facing Mei "V. V." Yamaguchi. Lee defeated Yamaguchi to be its inaugural champion back in 2016, and has since made two successful title defenses, the latest being against Istela Nunes while also battling an illness. Yamaguchi has bounced back nicely from that title loss, eventually earning another title shot by defeating Jenny Huang in two rounds. Their first meeting earned multiple "Fight of the Year" plaudits from a variety of media outfits, and this rematch could possibly match or even exceed the hype.
The co-main event features the final fight of Ben " Funky" Askren's MMA career, as the reigning ONE Welterweight World Champion defends his title against Shinya "Tobikan Judan" Aoki. Askren has been the champ since 2014, defeating Nobutatsu Suzuki to claim the strap, then successfully defending it three times, including his win against Zebaztian Kadestam. He is going to defend it for the final time against Aoki, a legend in Japanese mixed martial arts. An expert in grappling, the former ONE Lightweight World Champion will be making his welterweight debut.
