Ceres-Negros kicks off PFL stretch drive against Davao

With its AFC Cup campaign over, Ceres-Negros turns its focus onto the quest for the inaugural Philippines Football League championship, kicking things off this afternoon at 4pm against Davao Aguilas FC.

Due to its continental campaign, the Busmen have played the fewest league matches of the season at just twelve games. In spite of this perceived disadvantage, they remain within striking distance of the Top 4, which would guarantee them a spot in the postseason.

In addressing the media on Friday, Ceres assistant Ian Treyes acknowledged that the grind that playing in both the AFC Cup and the RHB Singapore Cup has put into the squad, noting that "We have to make some adjustments for the upcoming games."

Davao isn't that far back, due to some of their players' involvement in the SEA Games, having played just fourteen matches, two of which came in the past week. However, the team is still looking for its first league win, struggling in seventh place with just six points.

NOTE: Match is scheduled to be played at Rizal Memorial due to the unavailability of the Davao del Norte Sports Complex in Tagum City. Tickets will be available at the venue.
