FEU Tamaraws use a huge 4th qtr to keep UST Tigers winless

It was in the 4th period wherein Far Eastern University opened the floodgates to beat the University of Santo Tomas, 78-65 in UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball tournament on Saturday afternoon at Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.

The Growling Tigers controlled the game from the get go, establishing a 10-point lead in the 1st half over the Tamaraws.

After playing three quarters and having a one-point advantage heading into the final canto, 49-48, the Tamaraws went a 14-0 run that was kickstarted by Arvin Tolentino hitting two straight 3-point shots. They would then never look back since.

Arvin Tolentino led the way for FEU with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Ron Dennison also chipped in with 15 points.

“It’s hard to get wins in the UAAP. We have to grind it out.” said by FEU coach Olsen Racela inside the press room.

UST shot 33% only from the field along with 24 turnovers. They were also down by 12 points in fast break points.

Jeepy Faundo led the way for UST with double-double performance of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
