FAR Eastern University routed University of the East, 4-0, to post its second straight win in the UAAP Season 87 collegiate men's football tournament Thursday at the UP Diliman Football Stadium.
The Tamaraws rose six points, thanks to another stellar outing by rookie sensation Edgar Aban Jr. and clean sheet by goalkeeper Allan Diansuy.
"It is important to win, it is important to have good results," said FEU's Spanish coach Roman Oliver. "To be honest today, we have some problems. I don't know if it is because of the rain. I don't know why.
"At the end, we found a solution. We found a way to attack. We are happy. Six points in two matches. So, perfect start," he added.
Aban, a 19-year-old native of Masbate and a product of the decorated FEU-Diliman high school program, was sensational in hiking his goal total to four.
In the first half, which was played in light showers, Aban's curling shot over Mark Maghinay in the 25th minute put the Morayta-based side ahead.
The Tamaraws then doubled the lead after Aban struck in the 43rd minute.
Aban also netted a brace in FEU’s 3-0 season-opening victory over Adamson University.
Karl Absalon scored on a counter in the 70th minute to give the Tamaraws a 3-0 advantage.
Selwyn Mamon produced a glancing header in the 87th minute to put the match to beyond recall for the Tamaraws.
The Red Warriors remained at four points in the table.
FEU, last season's runner-up, plays Ateneo de Manila University on Sunday, while UE goes up against Adamson on the same day.
