Matchday 11 of the LALIGA EASPORTS season may have ELCLASICO as its headliner, with the 189th ever meeting between rivals Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Madrid owns the advantage with 79 victories compared to 74 for their Catalan opposition, and has won the last four meetings in all competitions. However, Barca currently leads the league with a three-point advantage over their rivals.
Aside from ELCLASICO, there are also some tasty matchups this weekend.
It already kickstarted with Sevilla FC's 2-0 victory over RCD Espanyol, with both goals coming from Dodi Lukebakio in the first half. The win extends the Andalusian side's winning run against their Catalan opposition to eight wins in their last eleven meetings.
Later tonight, three matchups take place before ELCLASICO, featuring teams seeking to maintain their pace against the leaders.
Villarreal CF goes up against Real Valladolid, seeking to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to Madrid and a 1-1 draw against Getafe that has stalled their strong start to the campaign.
Rayo Vallecano has picked up points in the last five matchdays until their 1-0 defeat to Mallorca last week, and they hope to bounce back against a team that has lost its last four league matches in Deportivo Alaves.
Girona FC is fresh from their first-ever Champions League victory midweek, and is seeking to move out of mid-table against a UD Las Palmas side fresh from ending their 23-match winless run in league play. Diego Martinez kicked off his stint as the gaffer of Los Amarillos with a 3-2 victory over Valencia CF and is looking to make it back-to-back wins.
On Sunday night, four matches as set to happen, as RC Celta seeks to bounce back from last week's defeat to Real Madrid against a CD Leganés side trying to escape the early relegation battle in the early kickoff. Óscar Rodríguez was the hero the last time these two clubs met at the Estadio Butarque, scoring two goals in a 3-2 win for Lega.
Last season saw Getafe CF and Valencia CF split their two meetings with 1-0 victories at home, with the former hoping that continues, especially after managing to get at least a point in four of its last five matches to allow them to barely escape the relegation battle.
Early Monday morning features a tasty duel between two very experienced gaffers in Manuel Pellegrini of Real Betis and Diego Simeone of Atlético de Madrid. To be played at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, the hosts are seeking to bolster their European aspirations with a win, while the visitors want to take advantage of whatever the ELCLASICO outcome would be to be even closer to their rivals currently atop LALIGA EASPORTS.
That will be followed by Real Sociedad vs CA Osasuna, with their last meeting seeing Los Rojillos's seventeen-match winless streak snapped by Ante Budimir's goal to give Osasuna a 1-0 victory over La Real.
Capping off the matchday is RCD Mallorca and Athletic Club. Both teams are level on points at seventeen apiece, and are currently occupying the spots allocated to teams headed to the Europa League. It also is their first meeting since the Copa del Rey final that the Basques claimed.
