Men's Football Matches on Sunday at the UP Diliman Football Stadium
4 p.m. — UP vs DLSU
6:30 p.m. — UE vs Ateneo
INDAY Tolentin scored twice to lift Far Eastern University above University of the Philippines 3-1 and remain unbeaten in the UAAP Season 87 Collegiate Women’s Basketball Tournament on Saturday at the UP Diliman Football Stadium.
Tolentin, who was one of five Lady Tamaraws to join Kaya-Iloilo in its 2024–25 AFC Women's Champions League campaign, put the ball at the back of the net in the 45+1 and 57th minutes to seal the victory for FEU ahead of its Season 86 final rematch against De La Salle University.
Despite seeing her captain score twice, Coach Let Dimzon stated that her protege, who has three goals this season, can still improve in front of goal.
“Actually marami pa sanang goals si Inday eh,” said Dimzon. “Ang kailangan lang talaga ay she needs to focus again. She needs to review yung games pagdating sa mga lapses niya. Kasi from those games, dapat meron siyang five goals eh. Kailangan niya lang talaga mag-focus sa technique kasi nagiging problem niya yung mga techniques pagdating sa delivery of the ball and decision making pag nasa loob siya ng box.”
Regine Rebosura, who was the hero of the Season 85 final against La Salle, opened the scoring for FEU with a 17th-minute tap-in off Tolentin’s assist.
The Fighting Maroons tried to make things interesting as Hannah Marie Muros scored a 36th-minute penalty, which was awarded due to a foul in the Lady Tamaraws box, but UP failed to build on the spot-kick.
FEU and La Salle, both tied with nine points each with the former sealing first place due to a superior goal difference of plus-6 to the latter’s plus-5, will face off on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. to close out the first round.
“Ang kailangan lang namin talaga ay makuha yung game namin against La Salle,” said Dimzon. “We need to improve ulit sa harapan. Dapat mag-refocus ulit yung team. Again, this is not the end of the first round. We need to win the game para ma-secure yung top spot.”
On the other hand, UP, which remained in third place with three points and a minus-3 goal difference, will close the first round against University of Santo Tomas this Wednesday at 4 p.m.
