The first round meeting of Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University in the UAAP Season 87 Collegiate Men's Basketball Tournament will have historic significance from a visual perspective.
This comes after the Green Archers are exercising their option to wear their dark uniforms against their rivals, making for a blue versus green clash of colors.
Said option was made possible with a new rule installed last season. It grants member schools the ability to wear their dark jerseys instead of the light one, provided it has been approved by the Commissioner's Office, led by Xavy Nunag.
La Salle would be the first team to take advantage of this capability, having secured such consent on Saturday night.
According to head coach Topex Robinson, "Since it’s a La Salle-Ateneo game, we decided to wear our school color."
The rivalry game will take place at 630pm tonight at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
