The University of Santo Tomas continued its dominance on the ping pong tables, winning titles in multiple divisions at the PTTF Intercollegiate and Interscholastic Challenge held at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
The Tiger Paddlers claimed the men's team title by defeating the University of the Philippines in the final, while their women's counterparts topped Far Eastern University in their finals matchup.
Ending up as losing semifinalists in both divisions are Ateneo de Manila University, with the College of Saint Benilde and La Salle accompanying them in the men's and women's, respectively.
Eljay Tormis topped the men's singles' division, while Emmanuel Paculba Jr., and Trixie Alarcon would claim two doubles titles in the high school division, teaming up in mixed doubles while claiming their respective titles in boys' (alongside Jebb Datahan), and girls' (alongside Samantha Bandojo).
The Tamaraws could potentially be a darkhorse as Chrishien Santillan triumphed in the women's singles division. Dane Piala and Shaira Gabisay took care of the collegiate mixed doubles crown.
The Lady Paddlers from Taft showed why they remain contenders in the UAAP with Cielo Bernaldez and Angel Laude topping the women's doubles. Green Paddlers Troy Docto and EJ Yamson ended up on top in men's doubles.
In the high school ranks, the Junior Tiger Paddlers' first team, comprised of Paul Christian Agunod, Datahan, Paculba Jr., and Jad Sandoval lost in the boys' final to the trio of Gerald Aguilar, Lemuel Quilingen, and James Crom of the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA. In addition, they topped the high school girls' team competition.
Aguilar would later on claim the boys' singles crown.
Other champions in the tournament supported by the Philippine Olympic Committee, Philippine Sports Commission, Milo, Smart Sports, Ayala Malls Manila Bay Home Court, Cara Celine Dormtel, Gold Cross Security Agency, Topcoms Marketing, Mizuno Philippines, Dino Jalandoni, Eric Ongtauco and Bombit Silva are Zachi Chua of Panda Power of HG in high school girls’ singles, Myzette Riane Torres of Paco Christian Academy Foundation for the elementary girls’ singles, and Gabriel Noche in the elementary boys singles.
Six hundred participants involving fifty schools took part in the event.
