Lyceum maintained its spotless record in the NCAA after defeating fellow undefeated Arellano, 82-65 on Tuesday afternoon at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
The Pirates rode on a career-best performance from CJ Perez against the Chiefs, scoring 31 points while grabbing six rebounds, issuing six assists, and contributing five steals in their fourth straight win.
In relying on last season's Most Valuable Player, they also overcome a slow start, as Arellano zoomed off to a 33-17 late in the first quarter, before they tightened their defensive screws, allowing just 32 points for the subsequent 30 minutes.
Head coach Topex Robinson praised his opposition after the game, says "Arellano is really a dangerous team. We have to respect them. They really played well as a team."
Joining Lyceum atop the NCAA standings are defending champions San Beda, after dispatching College of Saint Benilde, 75-69.
Red Lions rode on Robert Bolick in the fourth quarter to pull off the comeback against the Blazers, as he scored twelve of his 25 points in the final period.
In the other collegiate game scheduled, San Sebastian kept Jose Rizal University winless this season, 86-76.
Alvin Capobres scored sixteen points for the Golden Stags, who moved back to .500 with the victory.
