Lyceum rode on a career performance from Jaycee Marcelino in the fourth quarter to fend off Emilio Aguinaldo College, 106-97, to snatch solo leadership in the 94th collegiate basketball season of the NCAA at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan last Friday.

The PCCL Finals MVP scored 13 of his career-high 24 points in the fourth quarter to help shepherd the Pirates to a win over the Generals, after a wild third quarter that allowed them to not only erect a 31-point lead, but also allow EAC to whittle that back down to three. He also contributed eight rebounds, two assists, and five steals.

Lyceum head coach Topex Robinson shared to the media after the game, "We can’t relax against any team in this league and EAC reminded us that we really can’t."

Season 93 MVP CJ Perez added twenty points, five rebounds, a couple of assists, and six steals, while Ralph Tansingco and Jaycee's twin brother Jayvee combined for 21 markers. The trio made up for Mike Harry Nzeusseu's disappointing follow-up to his 20-20 game last Saturday, as foul trouble limited the Cameroon native to just seven points and seven rebounds in 17.5 minutes of action.

Hamadou Laminou's 34 points, sixteen rebounds, and four blocks led the charge for the Generals, but their hopes of pulling off the upset were pretty much dashed when he fouled out during the fourth quarter. Jerome Garcia and Jethro Mendoza's timely sniping eventually yielded twenty and thirteen points, respectively.
