The reigning champions of both the boys and girls division of UAAP high school volleyball had contrasting outcomes this past weekend at the Adamson Gym.
The Lady Bullpups of National University opened their title retention with a 25-21 19-25 25-10 and 25-13 victory over La Salle-Zobel last Saturday, then dispatching UE the next day, 25-21 16-25 25-10 and 25-20.
Joining NU atop the girls division is UST, as the Junior Tigresses defeated Adamson on Sunday, 25-18 25-20 and 25-17. Just behind the two is UE, with the Junior Lady Warriors managing to also defeat Adamson, 25-20 25-11 and 25-15 before their defeat to NU.
In the boys' division, the quest to secure twelve straight championships for UE opened on a disappointing note, with the Junior Warriors bowing to NU, 19-25 25-23 23-25 25-23 and 12-15 on Saturday. They did bounce back from that setback with a 25-17 25-22 and 25-20 win over La Salle-Zobel.
Like their female counterparts, UST is also undefeated so far in the early portion of the season, with wins over UPIS (25-8 25-22 and 26-24) and Ateneo (25-22 25-21 and 25-16) for a 3-0 record.
