National University continues to set the pace in UAAP high school volleyball after first round action at the Adamson Gym, as they share the lead in girls' division and remain undefeated in the boys' division.
Although the Lady Bullpups stumbled against Adamson, 13-25 21-25 25-23 25-12 and 15-11 for their first defeat of the season, they managed to bounce back with an impressive 25-14 25-11 and 25-8 victory over FEU-Diliman to end up with a 5-1 record.
Ending up as co-leaders with NU is UST, which dispatched La Salle-Zobel (25-20 25-18 and 25-14) and UE (25-16 25-22 and 25-11) this past weekend.
The Junior Lady Spikers did manage to secure a win this past weekend with a 25-15 25-19 and 25-20 over the Baby Falcons, allowing them to finish the first round in third place at 4-2. UE is one game back at 3-3, while both Adamson and FEU-Diliman are two games back at 2-4.
On the boys' side, the Bullpups swept the first round after beating Ateneo (25-23 25-14 and 25-16) and UST (19-25 25-18 22-25 25-14 and 15-8).
Just behind them are the multiple-time defending champions UE, with the Junior Warriors wrapping up their 5-1 first round with wins over UST (25-22 25-21 and 25-21) and FEU-Diliman (25-19 25-20 and 25-20).
The Baby Tamaraws are in third place just one game back at 4-2, while the Tiger Cubs are another game further back at 3-3.
