UAAP reveals Season 81 Opening Weekend

The UAAP on Thursday formally revealed its opening set of men's basketball matches to kickstart its 81st season.

Set to take place at the Mall of Asia Arena on September 8, the league will have its Opening Ceremonies starting at noon time, with the first game of the season involving the University of the Philippines and the University of the East at 2pm.

Hosts National University will then face the University of Santo Tomas at 4pm.

The next day at the same venue, Far Eastern University faces La Salle at noon, with defending champions Ateneo going up against Adamson at 4pm. The league has mandated separate ticketing rules akin to Ateneo-La Salle matches for this particular playdate.

Meanwhile, the UAAP later today will have its Last One Standing preseason event at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium. Festivities will commence at 10am, with live streaming c/o ABS-CBN Sports to take place at around 1pm.

There are four events lined up for Last One Standings, a 1-on-1 Competition, a Three-Point Shootout, a Skills Challenge, and a Dunk Contest.

Notable names like Kobe Paras, Jordan Bartlett, Jolo Mendoza, and Miguel Oczon, highlight the men's field, while the women's field includes Nathalia Prado, Camille Claro, Ria Nabalan, and Jhazmin Joson.
