WFL Elite team representatives and organizers meeting |
Considered as the top tier in their football pyramid, the WFL Elite will have six teams (UAAP teams Adamson and Ateneo, former United Football League sides Green Archers United, Army, Navy-Fleet Marine, and Philippines Football League side Stallion Laguna, who is fielding their B-team) facing off in a "home-and-away" format, with the home side set to arrange for the field and the referees.
The first match is scheduled tonight, as La Salle-Zobel hosts Adamson against Green Archers United at 7pm, with Navy visiting Stallion at Binan at noontime on August 18 and Ateneo visiting Army at ASCOM on August 19 at 1pm.
The Elite Division has been part of the WFL for the past few editions, with the NCR Football Association designating it as its Division 1 competition.
Green Archers United chairman Monchu Garcia shares, "We are excited for this league and we think it really fills a gap for teams between the PFL and the collegiate leagues." The WFL Elite believes that is a training ground for players who have aspirations of making the pro ranks.
