ONE Championship pits Akhmetov-Eustaquio in Jakarta MMA event

ONE: Total Victory, coming this September at Jakarta

ONE Championship earlier this week formally announced that ONE: Total Victory will take place on September 16 at the Jakarta Convention Center in the Indonesian capital, with ONE Championship's Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong stating, "Jakarta has remained one of ONE Championship's most exciting destinations. The bustling capital city of Indonesia provides a perfect backdrop for our unique brand of world-class authentic martial arts action." He adds, "It's going to be another awesome evening of compelling bouts, so join us as we broadcast live around the world."

The main event for ONE: Total Victory pits former ONE Flyweight World Champion Kairat Akhmetov against Geje Eustaquio.

Akhmetov is fresh from being beaten by Adriano Moraes for the right to be the undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion, with an immediate victory could put him back in the title hunt and a potential third matchup against Moraes. The Kazakh says, "I am excited to get back in the cage and compete. Defeat is part of this game, the important thing is to come back better. The body is ready, the mind is strong, and the spirit is willing. [Geje] Eustaquio is one of the best competitors in the division and a victory over him will mean a lot. I have one goal, and that is to get back my title. I will take care of anyone who stands in my way."

Eustaquio, on the other hand, is fresh from a split decision victory over Anatpong Bunrad, avenging a previous loss to the Thai. The Team Lakay member and wushu practitioner is noted for his solid striking and grappling that made him one of the most skilled martial artists in the continent. The man called "Gravity" says, "This is a huge bout against a former world champion, it is very important to me." He thanked ONE Championship for this matchup, adding, "I will showcase my best skills in this bout and take home the win for the Philippines.
