Fr. Martin's Cup set for 25th Summer Edition

The oldest preseason collegiate tournament in the country is still alive and kicking.

The Fr. Martin's Cup Summer League is set to commence on April 7, with matches set to be played either inside the San Beda campus in Mendiola or at the SGS Gym along Araneta Avenue in Quezon City.

Fourteen teams will participate in the seniors division, led by defending champions San Beda.

The Red Lions are in Group A alongside Arellano, Perpetual, La Salle, TRESTON, AMA University, and Mapua.

The University of the Philippines leads the pack in the Group B, alongside UCBL champions Diliman College, Letran, College of Saint Benilde, San Sebastian, Far Eastern University, and La Consolacion College.

In the high school division, fourteen teams also get a chance to prepare for their respective seasons. Group A has the likes of Letran, FEU, UST, San Beda, Diliman College, St. Patrick's High School, and AMA. Group B has Adamson, San Beda, Arellano, Lyceum, TRESTON, San Sebastian, and La Consolacion.

As for the women's division, it's an all-UAAP set up with five teams. National University will have UST, FEU, La Salle, and UE as stumbling blocks to their title defense.

The Fr. Martin's Cup Summer League is the first of three such tournaments planned this year. In July, Team B of the UAAP and NCAA schools battle it out in their respective seniors and juniors campaign, while in November, a third open tournament will commence that will involve men's and women's collegiate teams.
