Chooks-to-Go 3x3 Asia-Pacific Super Quest set this weekend

You ready for the Super Quest

This weekend will be witness to a new chapter in 3x3 basketball, as the Chooks-to-Go Asia-Pacific Super Quest is set to take place in the country.

Hosting the Super Quest is the latest effort of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas in working their way into securing a berth in the Olympics. The Philippines was chosen to host this first-of-its-kind initiative back in February, in light of FIBA officials being impressed with how the launch of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 was conducted. That group will be tasked to organize the Level 8 event in the FIBA 3x3 tournament pyramid.

FIBA 3x3 Managing Director Alex Sanchez is expected to grace the two-day event. Sanchez shares, "After last year’s success of the FIBA 3×3 World Cup organized by SBP, the initiative of Chooks-to-go to set up a tournament with international teams from Asia-Pacific qualifying to the FIBA 3×3 World Tour is excellent news. It underpins the effort of Chooks-to-go in organizing dozens of local 3×3 events and will accelerate the development of 3×3 in the Philippines."

BAVI President Ronald MascariƱas knows that they will leave no stone unturned in their quest to get the Philippines into the Olympics. "We are looking for tangible ways for the country to find its way to the Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. I know it’s hard at this point but we will try everything," he says. The Chooks-to-Go head adds, We are happy to be chosen to host the first-ever Super Quest."

Chooks Pilipinas 3x3 commissioner Eric Altamirano shares, "With the Super Quest, we want to show the region that we can compete with the world’s best in 3×3 basketball."

The Philippines has two entries in the Asia-Pacific Super Quest, with the President's Cup champions Pasig-Grindhouse Kings joined by their rivals 1Bataan Risers.

Completing the cast of this twelve-team tournament is composed of Ulaanbataar (Mongolia), Enerskin (Korea), Saigon Aces (Vietnam), Absolute 3x3 Basketball (Chinese-Taipei), Jakarta West Bandits (Indonesia), Tokyo Dime.exe (Japan), TSV Reading Cinema (Australia), Aotearoa (New Zealand), Anytours M1 (Hong Kong), and SSLC (China).

Topping the Super Quest gets to book their ticket into not only the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters Doha on April 18-19, but also the Challenger Series in Penang this coming May 12-13. They also will receive $20,000.

The runners-up also gets a berth in the Doha tournament as well as $15,000. Losing semifinalists also secure berths, but in the Challenger Series in Kunshan this coming May 18-19. A third place finish nets $7,000, while finishing fourth nets $4,000.

$1,000 is the reward for those earning quarterfinal spots.
