Set to take place tomorrow at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan, the UAAP Juniors basketball finals looks like it stoke some biblical proportions, as the undefeated National University Bullpups go up against the La Salle-Zobel Junior Archers.
The Junior Archers clinched the opportunity to face last season's finalists by defeating Ateneo, 75-67 in the stepladder semifinals last Monday.
La Salle-Zobel head coach Boris Aldeguer noted that the finals is a "David and Goliath" situation, but acknowledged that anything is possible, citing the College of Saint Benilde's feat against San Sebastian to claim the women's volleyball title as well as San Miguel Beer's unprecedented basketball feat in coming from 3-0 down to take the PBA All-Filipino Cup crown.
Overcoming a thrice-to-beat disadvantage has only happened once in the history of UAAP high school sports, coming in table tennis with UE against NU two years ago.
Aldeguer specifically looked at limiting the Bullpup big men, as the duo of Justine Baltazar and Rhayyan Amsali have combined for 21.8 points and 17.9 rebounds.
The finals also sees a match-up between two of the league's top scorers in Aljun Melecio (22.7 points) and John Lloyd Clemente (16.7 points)
The entire Finals matchup will be televised on Sports+Action live at 2pm.
