The University of the Philippines entered the win column on Saturday afternoon at McKinley-Hill Stadium, defeating the University of the East, 2-0.
Raphael Resuma opened things up in the 18th minute, scoring off an assist from Roland Saavedra. Vincent Aguilar would then double the lead in the 89th minute to clinch the win, which allowed them to seize solo fifth place in the standings.
The Maroon Booters came into the match slightly undermanned, as JB Borlongan and Christian Lapas were called up for national team duty. Both are with the Philippine U-19 team currently in China for a four-nation tournament.
The loss keeps UE in sixth place temporarily, pending the result of the Ateneo-Adamson game tonight.
