The Final Four is headed to Cebu |
The EASL has a venue for its Final Four, and it will take place at the Queen City of the South.
The semifinal and final will take place at the Hoops Dome in nearby Lapu-Lapu City, with the semifinals scheduled on March 8 and the third place game and final slated a couple of days later.
In making the announcement, EASL CEO Henry Kerins shares, "Cebu is an incredible venue for the first EASL Final Four. It has some of the most passionate basketball fans in the Philippines. The Hoops Dome is a great arena that will be packed with local and travelling fans. And this is an amazing tourist destination – we are excited to showcase Cebu, including the magical resort island of Mactan, and the beautiful culture of the Philippines to our fans across the region."
He adds, "The Final Four is going to be a world-class sports entertainment experience."
Having earned their spots in the postseason and getting the chance to be crowned as the best club team in East Asia are defending champions Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters, fellow Korean Basketball League squad Seoul SK Knights, P. LEAGUE+ side New Taipei Kings, and the Chiba Jets of the B. LEAGUE.
With the pandemic finally out of the way, this will be the first time a EASL champion will be crowned through a true home-and-away competition, a truly historic moment for the league. Said winner will earn $1 million in prize money, with the runner-up taking home $500,000. Finishing in third will net that team $250,000.
Tickets will be made available through TicketMAX, with further details to be made available through the league's social media platforms.
