Kath Arado's defense sparks the University of the East's offense. And her efforts last week got the attention of the different scribes, as she was named as the latest UAAP Press Corps Player of the Week.
In pulling off the 25-23 18-25 28-26 26-24 victory over the University of Santo Tomas last Wednesday, the libero contributed 32 excellent receptions and 28 digs, ensuring back-to-back victories for the Lady Warriors.
Interim head coach Rod Roque praised Arado's heroics, whose cat-quick reflexes and nose for the ball sparked UE's counterattacks against the Tigresses and league leading scorer Sisi Rondina, ensuring their first win against them in the Final Four era and their first back-to-back wins since Season 74.
"Eh No. 1 naman 'yan eh. No 1 'yan sa UAAP, No. 1 'yan sa puso namin." Roque shares about Arado, who is running neck and neck against La Salle's Dawn Macandili as the top libero in the league. Kath, you're No. 1, you're the one."
She beat out her teammate Mary Anne Mendrez, Kianna Dy of La Salle, Tots Carlos of the University of the Philippines, and Jho Maraguinot of Ateneo.
