Cassie Lim needed three sets to defeat Thea Pomar, 15-21 21-19 and 21-17, while Bianca Carlos easily handled Michal Duquilla, 21-9 and 21-15, which gave Ateneo a 2-0 lead.
Geva de Vera and Janel Dihiansan claimed the clinching win for these lady shuttlers with a 21-10 and 21-9 triumph over Pomar and Hannah Tudtud.
The Lady Tamaraws did manage to win the two remaining matches in play, a 21-19 19-21 23-21 win by Duquilla and Maridel Rivera over Carlos and Lim, as well as Tudtud's 21-12 and 21-18 victory over Samantha Santos.

The University of Santo Tomas secured a 4-1 victory over NU in their tie, bouncing back from being thrashed by the defending champions in their previous match.
Steffi Aquino kicked things off with a 21-13 and 21-9 win over Marinel Diansay, while Patricia Barredo survived Jiselle Capillo's game to take a 19-21 21-12 and 21-10 triumph.
NU managed to get on the board with a 12-21 21-17 and 21-15 win from Loverly Magallano and Amica Du-ay over Ma. Victoria Vismonte and Airish Macalinao.
But the Espana-based shuttlers claimed the tie with Barredo and Aquino joining forces to secure a 22-20 and 21-9 victory over Diansay and Capillo.
Capping off the tie is Macalinao's 21-17 17-21 and 21-10 win over Magallano.

The Lady Warriors got on the board first, as Lyra Rosal defeating Clydel Pada, 13-21 21-17 and 21-15. But the Lady Falcons equalized with Christine Garin's 23-21 10-21 and 21-13 triumph over Heide Rosal.
UE would retake the lead after the Rosal siblings defeating Garin and Mikaela Aquino, 21-15 and 21-15, but Pada and Jhay Anne Macabenta tied it again with a 18-21 21-18 and 21-16 victory over Erycka Labay and Pamela Fernandez.
Aquino would then clinch the tie with a 21-14 and 21-14 decision over Labay.

Jessie Francisco and Lea Inlayo secured the tie for the Diliman-based shuttlers with a 22-20 and 21-19 result against Alyssa Leonardo and Kristelle Salatan.
