The second semester of the 87th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) heats up as the much-anticipated Collegiate Volleyball Tournament begins this weekend at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Defending champion National University will aim to retain its crowns in both the men's and women's divisions, with the Lady Bulldogs gunning for their third championship in four seasons, while the Bulldogs are targeting a fifth consecutive title.
However, the rest of the league is prepared to challenge their dominance.
University of Santo Tomas, De La Salle University, and Far Eastern University have fortified their rosters to dethrone NU, while Ateneo de Manila University, Adamson University, University of the Philippines, and University of the East have also retooled their squads in pursuit of championship glory.
All matches will be aired LIVE on free-to-air television via One Sports every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday with the men’s scheduled in the mornings while the women’s matches are scheduled in the afternoon, with exception of the February 19 and February 22 game days.
All games are also broadcasted LIVE exclusively on the UAAP Varsity Channel in high definition. They are also available via the Pilipinas Live app, including video-on-demand content and for UAAP fans around the globe.
This second half of UAAP Season 87, Cignal TV will continue to use its campaign “Legends Start Here.”
Last semester, viewers saw basketball players etch their names in UAAP lore and became legends, as UP claimed their second title in four seasons as they avenged their Season 86 loss to La Salle.
"Cignal TV remains committed to bringing the best of varsity sports to every Filipino, whether at home or abroad. Through our various platforms, we ensure that UAAP fans never miss a moment of the action, no matter where they are in the world," said MediaQuest & Cignal TV President and CEO Jane J. Basas.
Cignal’s coverage team of the UAAP will still feature homegrown volleyball correspondents from each participating school, bringing in-depth and insightful commentary from the sidelines.
Furthermore, Ateneo legends Denden Lazaro-Revilla and Bea De Leon are set to return to the broadcast panel, while La Salle standouts Julia Coronel and Michelle Cobb, along with NU’s Jennifer Nierva, will be making their broadcast debuts.
Apart from volleyball, the UAAP Varsity Channel and Pilipinas Live app will continue their comprehensive coverage of the High School Basketball and Football Tournaments, featuring future legends of their schools across the multiple events of the UAAP.
UAAP Executive Director Rene “Rebo” Saguisag expressed his gratitude for the continued partnership with Cignal TV, stating, "We are incredibly grateful for Cignal TV’s unwavering support in elevating UAAP sports coverage. Their dedication ensures that our student-athletes’ hard work and passion reach
audiences across the nation and beyond.”
