Quiambao, Pastrana lead Collegiate Press Corps Mythical selections

Mythical

The Collegiate Press Corps on Wednesday revealed the composition of its two Mythical Teams for the past season, with Kevin Quiambao and Kent Pastrana leading the way.

Both Quiambao and Pastrana led their respective schools to championships in the UAAP.

The latter helped end the seventeen-year drought of the University of Santo Tomas in women's basketball, snapping the title run of National University in the process in a classic three-game finals.

Her achievements in both five-on-five and 3x3, where she also won the championship over the Lady Bulldogs eventually got her the nod as the Player of the Year for team events.

Joining her in the inaugural women's Mythical selection are her teammate and Finals MVP Tantoy Ferrer, foreign student-athletes Josee Kaputu of Far Eastern University and Favour Onoh of the University of the Philippines.

Completing the quintet is Season 86 Most Valuable Player Kacey dela Rosa of the Ateneo de Manila University.

As for Quiambao, it was an undisputed choice as this past season's Most Valuable Player and Finals MVP, having towed La Salle back atop the mountain for the first time since 2016.

Also named to the men's Mythical selection is the NCAA Season 99 Rookie-MVP Clint Escamis, who helped Mapua reach the finals this past season, as well as Jacob Cortez, who helped San Beda reclaim the title before transferring to DLSU.

Malick Diouf of the University of the Philippines and Enoch Valdez of Lyceum are the remaining two players on said team.

The Collegiate Press Corps Awards Night presented by the San Miguel Corporation is slated to take place on June 17, with the Discovery Suites serving as the official venue partner. The event is backed by the Philippine Sports Commission, with Jockey serving as a minor sponsor.
