Favorites complete pool play sweeps in President's Cup second leg

3x3 contenders Zamboanga City Chooks, Butuan City, Porac, and Nueva Ecija book seats into the knockout rounds, completing sweeps to close out pool play in the second leg of the 2020 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 President's Cup powered by TM.

Alvin Pasaol scored seven points for the Family's Brand Sardines-backed Zamboanga City in their 21-13 win over Pasig-Sta. Lucia in Pool B. Although securing the sweep and considered as heavy favorites, the Davao native downplays those thoughts, "One game at a time pa rin ang mindset namin."

Looming in the quarters is sister team Bacolod-Master Sardines.

The Uling Roasters-backed Butuan City rode on Franky Johnson's hot hand against Bicol-PAXFUL 3x3 Pro, 21-13, needing just under six minutes to accomplish the feat.

Johnson finished with fourteen points in the win, but he still prefers to look ahead. "We gotta pace. It's still a long day," as they are slated to face Sarangani next.

The Rice Vanguards relied on Mac Sabelina to escape with a 21-16 win in just under nine minutes, while the Big Boss Cement-backed Porac needed just over four minutes to claim a 21-11 demolition of Pagadian City-Rocky Sports.

Five two-pointers from Ryan Monteclaro spearheaded the Kapangpangan side in the victory.

Completing the quarterfinal matchups are Nueva Ecija against Bicol and Porac against Pasig.

The champion of the second leg will receive PhP 100,000.
