Big Boss Cement-Porac MSC completed a come-from-behind victory over Bacolod-Master Sardines, serving as the highlight of the early part of pool play in the second leg of the 2020 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 President's Cup powered by TM.
Trailing 14-17 midway in the matchup, the Green Gorillas bounced back by scoring the final seven points of the game in the subsequent three minutes. Ryan Monteclaro snatched the win via a deuce with 1:58 left, 21-17.
Dylan Ababou led Porac with six points in the victory.
Also getting attention in pool play is a matchup involving sister squads Nueva Ecija and Palayan City, with the former escaping a 21-20 win in just over six minutes. Jai Reyes' floater allowed the Rice Vanguards to secure the win.
Tonino Gonzaga led Nueva Ecija with nine points, including four two-pointers. He shared after the game about their sister team matchup, "Siyempre, gusto pa rin namin magcompete. Kahit same boss [Bong Cuevas] kami, may pride pa rin sino manalo."
The Ateneo alumnus replaced Juan Gomez de Liano after the latter suffered an ankle injury during the first leg of the only professional 3x3 league in the Philippines.
The first leg finalists opened their respective pool play matches with victories.
Family's Brand Sardines-Zamboanga City Chooks beat Petra Cement-Roxas in Pool B, 21-18, needing 6:47 to notch the victory. Uling Roasters-Butuan City escaped with a 21-17 win over Zamboanga Peninsula Valientes-MLV, needed 7:50 to accomplish the feat in Pool C.
The league also announced a PhP 10,000 incentive for the winner of the game that ended the soonest.
