ONE Championship reveals major fights for ONE: Quest for Greatness

The Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur will be the backdrop for the upcoming ONE Championship mixed martial arts event in the country, ONE: Quest for Greatness, which is set to take place on August 18, a day before the official start of the 29th Southeast Asian Games.

ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong stated that "It is always an exciting time in Kuala Lumpur whenever our world-class athletes climb atop Asia's biggest and grandest martial arts stage. Our warriors are eager to put on a show for fans in Kuala Lumpur, and it is our honor to have them perform in this marvelous city."

The main event of ONE: Quest for Greatness features current ONE Featherweight World Champion Marat Gafurov in a title defense against Martin Nguyen. According to Sityodtong, Gafurov and Nguyen "are two of the promotion's finest featherweights."

The Cobra is toting a 15-0 record, with eleven of those win coming via submission, reflecting his high-level grappling skills. He has been the champion since defeating Narantungalag Jadambaa in 2015. He has since defeated Jadambaa in a rematch one year later, which is his last match before this upcoming fight.

The Situ-Asian is seeking to avenge his lone loss in nine fights, which he took on a few days notice to face Gafurov. All of his fights have resulted in a finish, with five knockouts, including his latest victory against Kazunori Yokota, and three submission triumphs.

Kevin Belingon is one of the most talented Filipino mixed martial artists. The Team Lakay fighter has a 15-5 record, with six wins coming via knockout. The Silencer is fresh from stopping Toni Tauru and is set to take on Reece McLaren. Just like Ting and Thani, Lightning is coming off a title defeat, just falling short against current ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano Fernandes via split decision.
