The Philippines is looking to make it back to back in Dushanbe for AFC Women's Asian Cup action, facing off against Iraq this afternoon at the Republican Central Stadium.
The Letecia Bautista-coached side are fresh from a 4-0 victory over UAE in rainy conditions, which she highlighted afterwards:
The girls really played well and they worked together, that was the most important part. The weather had a positive impact on our game because the girls kept moving, that made a difference. In the second half they were more relaxed, more composed, passing around, and we are happy with our performance. But we can still improve, there were lapses as well. Back in the Philippines we hadn’t scored this many in our games so we were really happy to have the four goals.Eva Madarang scored a couple of first half goals, with the lethal La Salle combination of Irish Navaja and Sara Castaneda assisting on each other's goals four minutes apart in the second half.
Meanwhile, Iraq is fresh off a narrow 1-0 defeat to hosts Tajikistan, allowing a late goal from Jonona Halimova in the 87th minute.
