PFF set to have inaugural PFL season

The Philippine Football Federation is at the cusp of formalizing the Philippines Football League, with the launch set to take place tonight.

Earlier this month, the PFF issued club licenses and entered into agreements with the inaugural eight teams in the league, Ceres Negros FC, Davao Aguilas FC, Global Cebu FC, Ilocos United FC, JPV Marikina FC, Kaya FC-Makati, Stallion Laguna FC, and Loyola Meralco Sparks FC.

Singapore-based sports marketing agency Red Card Global assisted with building the foundations of the league's commercialization and financial model. It also will be the league's exclusive commercial agent, tasked to boost the PFL's growth here and abroad.

PFF President Mariano Araneta highlighted the importance of the PFL for the growth of Philippine football, expressing thanks to "all stakeholder, including the upcoming sponsors, private club investors, stadia owners, players, and football fans in keeping faith.. in the PFF to have this professional league."

Red Card Global Executive Chairman R. Sasikumar says, "We are proud to have played a part in assisting the PFF in this endeavor. It is our hope that this model propels Philippines football to a new level. With 100 million people in the Philippines and another 10 million outside the country, commercially this provides huge opportunities for the PFL."

The PFF has entered into an agreement with the People's Television Network, Inc. with the government-owned station tasked to broadcast some of the PFL matches, although the schedule will only be known later. Details can be seen below:
