San Sebastian docked wins for Ilagan "ligang labas"

San Sebastian was hit with the double whammy on Thursday, as not only did they lose their collegiate assignment to San Beda, but also got hit by the book from the NCAA Management Committee.

The NCAA ManCom handed RK Ilagan a three-game suspension and forfeited two of the Golden Stags' three victories this season.

Ilagan had participated in an unauthorized basketball game or "ligang labas," which warranted the three-match suspension. But since the school handed down their own suspension, the sentence has been officially served.

As a result, San Sebastian's record after their first round concluded on Thursday is now 1-8, moving them to the league cellar behind previously winless Jose Rizal University, which along with the College of Saint Benilde, were gifted victories to move their records to 1-7 and 4-3, respectively.

In a statement, NCAA ManCom chairman Frank Gusi says, "The NCAA’s action on this incident, including the sanctions imposed, is in accordance with the existing NCAA Manual of Operations (MOO) and with the best interest of the league and the discipline of student athletes in mind."
