With less than a month away before the 81st Season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines commences, hosts National University is set for something special just weeks before the actual festivities.
In coordination with the SM Supermalls, NU will be introducing a pre-season event called the Last One Standing 1-on-1 Hoop Challenge.
Set to take place at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium on Friday, August 17, Last One Standing will showcase UAAP school standouts and guest athletes against each other in one-on-one action, as they upstage each other with their basketball skills.
The action in this one-day-only tournament begins as early as at 10am, with side competitions like the Dunk Contest, a 3-point Shootout, and a Skills Challenge. Fans can check it out for free.
According to Event Director Eric Altamirano, "Last One Standing is going to be a fun and exciting event to watch. The one-on-one is the best showcase for a player’s skills and basketball smarts. This is the real test of an athlete’s individual prowess that may also reveal any weakness he may have. Everything’s on show, you can’t hide anything here."
The actual season opener will not be until September 8 at the Mall of Asia Arena. This season's theme is "It All Begins Here."
