EAC, San Beda continue to hold NCAA beach volley lead

Emilio Aguinaldo College and San Beda continue to maintain their pace atop the leaderboard in the NCAA Season 93 Beach Volleyball Tournament at the Boardwalk in Subic Bay.

The duo of Paulo Cezar Lim and Joshua Mina defeated the duo of Joebert Almodiel and Rey Taneo defending champions Perpetual,  21-19 21-17 to take control of the men's division and at the same time securing their postseason berth with their seventh straight victory.

The Generals could secure an automatic finals berth if it can defeat Lyceum and Letran to end their eliminations campaign undefeated.

According to Lim, "We’re just focused on the game. We watched how they played and we already knew how we will beat them."

The loss dropped the Altas to a tie for second, alongside Lyceum at 6-1. The Pirate duo of Jhonel Badua and Joeward Presnede lost to the College of Saint Benilde duo of Isaah Arda and Ruvince Abrot in three sets, 21-12 19-21 15-17.

The Viray Twins of San Beda remains on top of the women's division, defeating the EAC duo of Jaylene May Lumbo and Glyka Mariz Medina, 21-6 21-11 to remain undefeated at 6-0.

The Lady Generals still remain in second at 6-1, ahead of Jose Rizal University and Perpetual, which are both at 4-2. Shola Alvarez and Mary Grace Rivera powered the Lady Bombers against Lyceum's Bien Elaine Juanillo and Christine Miralles, 21-10 21-15, while Bianca Tripoli and Marijo Medalla combined for the Altas to defeat CSB's Jan Arianne Daguil and Melanie Torres, 21-16 21-15.

The NCAA Season 93 Beach Volleyball Tournament is backed by Chigo Airconditioning, MTC & Infoworks, Crab & Belly, SBHATSVB, Subic Park Hotel, Bayfront Hotel, Terrace Hotel, SBMA, Balipure, Mikasa, and SMART. The event is sanctioned by the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas, Inc.
