Davao Aguilas affirming grassroots development

Although the Davao Aguilas are still searching for their first victory as a team in the Philippines Football League, the club continues to establish itself in the region.

It recently organized a football clinic for 200 kids at the Tionko Football Field in Davao City, with the possibility of future clinics to take place in Davao and at other areas in Mindanao.

Head coach Gary Phillips stressed the importance of setting up a training camp in Davao, as well as in helping to develop football interest in the region, while also being able to tap more local football talents as well.

The team takes pride in having Davao natives and other Mindanao-based football talents within its squad, some of which were named to the Philippine Under-22 team that is slated to have a camp in Japan that was arranged by the Football Associations of the Philippines and Japan.

The team has five representatives in that particular camp, in Junnell Mark Bautista, Jaime Vicenzo Cheng, Rey Franco Miguel de la Torre, Van Rey Diaz, and Richard Talaroc.

The camp is in preparation for the upcoming AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers in Cambodia and the Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia later this year.
