Cebu Regional Selection camp for Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA 2016 set today

The 2016 Jr. NBA / Jr. WNBA Philippines program presented by Alaska heads down to the Queen City of the South this weekend, with the Don Bosco Technology Center serving as the host of the third Regional Selection Camp this year.

The camp, which runs today and tomorrow, will be run by Jr. NBA coach Craig Brown and a selection of coaches from its presenting partner Alaska. Registration (which can be done here) and participation is free of charge.

Day 1 will see participants undergo vitals tests and skills challenges. The results from those determine if they are to return the next day for more basketball drills and exercises, which will include scrimmages. Outstanding performers from both days will get the chance to participate in the National Training Camp in Manila this coming April. It is from that camp where ten Jr. NBA and five Jr. WNBA All-Stars will be selected to partake of an overseas NBA experience alongside their fellow ASEAN counterparts.

Children born from 2002-06 are encouraged to take advantage of the NBA's youth development program, where they not only learn proper basketball skills, but also the values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude, and Respect.

After this weekend, the final Regional Selection Camp will take place in Manila on April 9-10.
