For the upcoming inaugural edition of the NBA House in the Philippines, the NBA will be bringing in a couple of icons of the game.

Set to take place on August 29-30 at the SPACE at One Ayala in Makati City, the NBA revealed that Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame members Jason Kidd and Lauren Jackson will grace the festivities.

Drafted second overall in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks, the 6'5" guard from California would make an immediate impact in the league, sharing Rookie of the Year honors alongside fellow Hall of Famer Grant Hill. In his nineteen seasons in the league, he led the league in assists in five of those seasons, in the process of earning ten NBA All-Star selections, six All-NBA Teams, nine All-Defensive Teams. He also made the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team, and managed to win a title with the Mavericks in his second stint with the team back in 2011. Moving into coaching, Kidd served as a head coach for ten seasons, doing so with the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, and in Dallas, and also spent a couple of seasons as an assistant in Los Angeles with the Lakers. He is one of a few who has been inducted twice in the Hall, earning a nod as a player in 2018, and as part of the United States' National Men's Basketball Team at the 2008 Olympics in 2025.

Drafted as the top overall selection in the 2001 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm, the Aussie would spend her entire WNBA career with the franchise, winning two championships (2004, 2010). In doing so, Jackson also earned a WNBA Finals MVP, three WNBA MVP nods, a WNBA Defensive Player of the Year nod, eight All-WNBA Teams, five All-Defensive Team selections, seven WNBA All-Star selections, and was named to the league's 10th, 15th, 20th, and 25th Anniversary Teams. She also topped the league in scoring three times, as well as once in rebounding.

Representing Australia, she earned five medals for the Opals in the Olympics, claiming silver in 2000, 2004, and 2008, then bronze medals in 2012 and 2024. The last one came after she returned from retirement. During her sabbatical, she was inducted into the Hall of Fames in Australiam Basketball (2019), Women's Basketball (2020), and the Naismith (2021).

As a member of the Australia Women’s National Team, she earned three silver medals (2000, 2004 and 2008) and two bronze medals (2012 and 2024) in the Olympics.  She was inducted into the Australian Basketball Hall of Fame (2019), the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame (2020) and Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame (2021).

Handled by Eventscape Manila and presented by Gatorade, the first edition of NBA House will have 2,700 square meters' worth of interactive basketball and pop culture activities for everyone to enjoy. Previous editions have already taken place in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, the U.S. and the UK.

Among the activations planned for that weekend:

• Meet-and-greets and appearances by Kidd, Jackson, and select local artists.
• Live musical performances and authentic NBA entertainment featuring the Sacramento Kings Dancers, who will make their third NBA House appearance of the summer – following NBA House editions in India and Australia – and their sixth overall.  
• Basketball skills challenges, merchandise giveaways, photo installations, and a game zone where fans can play the NBA 2K27 video game.
• An NBA memorabilia display featuring the Larry O’Brien Trophy and autographed NBA jerseys and basketballs.
• An official pop-up NBA Store with limited edition NBA House Philippines merchandise and exclusive product releases from official NBA licensing partners.
• A dedicated F&B zone.
• Live viewing of regular-season WNBA games between the Washington Mystics and the Los Angeles Sparks (Aug. 29) and the Toronto Tempo and the Phoenix Mercury (Aug. 30).
• A Prime Video Celebrity Showcase on Aug. 29 featuring a 5-on-5 exhibition game between two teams composed of local celebrities and influencers, with rosters to be announced in the coming days.
• A Jr. NBA / Jr. WNBA basketball clinic presented by Gatorade on Aug. 29 for local boys and girls from the YMCA Philippines. 
• An invitation-only five-kilometer fun run presented by Gatorade on Aug. 30.
• A WNBA segment on Aug. 30 featuring a series of on-court activities, including open court access for the local women’s basketball community followed by a Her Time to Play clinic presented by Gatorade.
• A 5-on-5 exhibition game on Aug. 30 featuring two teams comprising local professional players.

Prime Video reveals lineup for landmark NBA Finals coverage for the Philippines

Prime Video is set to pull out all of the stops as it set to make history with their exclusive coverage of the 2026 NBA Finals for the Philippines, which officially starts on June 4 at 830am between the Eastern Conference champions, the New York Knicks, as they travel to Texas to face their Western Conference counterparts, the San Antonio Spurs.

To conclude its historic inaugural season as one of the NBA's broadcast partners, Prime Video has revealed its on-air broadcast team set to deliver studio analysis and play-by-play game coverage.

Using its state-of-the-art NBA on Prime studio in Culver City, Prime Video will have a studio team able to provide Championship-winning expertise while also integrating an international flavor. Leading the pool of rotating analysts are Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famers Vlade Divac and Chris Bosh, alongside a couple of great Euro ballers with vast NBA experience in Danilo Gallinari and Nico Batum.

Batum is a four-time Olympian for France and just completed his eighteenth season in the league with a multitude of teams, the latest being the Los Angeles Clippers in his second stint with the team. Already armed with experience from covering major international tournaments, including last year's Eurobasket, he can provide an active player's views for the broadcast.

Bosh spent thirteen seasons in the NBA, having been named as an NBA All-Star eleven times. The Georgia Tech alum won two titles alongside LeBron James and Dwyane Wade with the Miami Heat in the previous decade. Post-play, he has served as an analyst when TNT held Players Only broadcasts back when they had the league's rights.

Gallinari recently retired after sixteen seasons in the league, becoming the highest-scoring Italian in the NBA. He has served guest analyst roles for a variety of teams, whether with the radio coverage of the Denver Nuggets, the NBA G League, and in the Olympics.

As for Divac, he amongst the pioneers for Europeans in the league, whether on and off the court. A former first round pick of the Los Angeles Lakers, he also spent time with the Charlotte Hornets and the Sacramento Kings, with the latter having also served as their general manager, allowing the coverage to have a viewpoint from a team executive lens.

Completing the Finals cast are two of Prime Video's sideline reporters throughout the NBA season in Allie Clifton and Kristina Pink. The latter will reprise her role for the NBA Finals, capturing the scenes in both San Antonio and New York, while the former will host the studio coverage.

The 2026 NBA Finals is a rematch of the 1999 edition, the last time the Knicks made it this far, when they were the 8-seed and anchored by the likes of Allan Houston, Latrell Sprewell. Larry Johnson, and Marcus Camby. They lost in five games to a team anchored by David Robinson and Tim Duncan.

In addition, it is a rematch of the this season's NBA Cup title game, which the Knicks won, 124-113, last December. OG Anunoby led New York with 28 points, while Jalen Brunson added 25 in becoming the NBA Cup MVP. They are now currently on an eleven-game winning streak, having swept both the Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers during this stretch.

Meanwhile, the Spurs are fresh from eliminating the defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games, ensuring that the league will have eight different franchises win the Larry O'Brien Trophy in the last eight seasons, the longest such stretch in its history.

The 2026 NBA Finals tips off on Thursday, June 4, LIVE exclusively on Prime Video in the Philippines, with tip slated at 830am for all games of this best-of-seven series.

Second edition of NBA Rising Stars Invitational set this June

The National Basketball Association officially announced that it will bring back the NBA Rising Stars Invitational in a couple of months.

Launched last year, the second edition of the competition bringing together select 18-and-under boys' and girls' teams across the Asia-Pacific will take place at the OCBC Arena in Singapore this June 22-28.

In sharing the announcement, NBA Asia's Head of Southeast Asia Sheila Rasu notes, "The inaugural NBA Rising Stars Invitational set a benchmark for high-school basketball in Asia-Pacific.  As we return to Singapore for the consecutive second year, we look forward to delivering another unforgettable week of programming featuring some of the region’s best young talent, brought to life through the NBA’s signature mix of sports and family-friendly entertainment."

Done in collaboration with Sport Singapore (SportSG) and the Singapore Tourism Board, supported by the Karim Family Foundation, and operated by the event agencies of NBA Singapore, twelve teams each from the boys' and girls' division will tangle in round robin action before heading into the knockout phase.

Teams were selected with the assistance of the national basketball federations and leagues, as well as through local qualifying tournaments in Bangkok, Melbourne, Taipei, and Tokyo. As hosts, Singapore has been granted two teams in both divisions.

Aside from competition, players will also go through skill development sessions, social impact programming, and off-court activities promoting cultural exchange. Outstanding ballers will have the opportunity to attend future NBA basketball development camps, showcases, and programs.

Gracing the proceedings are Jeremy Lin and Lauren Jackson, with both set to interact with the participants throughout the week. The former shares, "I’m incredibly excited to be part of the NBA Rising Stars Invitational in Singapore.  There is so much young talent across Asia-Pacific, and I’m proud to be part of an event that shines a spotlight on some of the region’s top prospects.  Helping shape the next generation is a cause I’m deeply committed to, and I hope my journey encourages these rising stars to make the most of this opportunity and ultimately contribute to greater Asian representation at the highest levels of the game."

As for the latter, she says, "Last year’s NBA Rising Stars Invitational was a remarkable showcase of talent and determination, and I witnessed firsthand how much the stage and experience meant to the players.  I look forward to returning to Singapore this June and helping these amazing athletes continue their development."

Aside from the two champions, additional current and former NBA players will be heading to the Lion City for the event.

In addition to the action, the NBA Rising Stars Invitational will also have additional activations in place all week for fans, including community outreach initiatives, photo opportunities, authentic NBA memorabilia, player appearances and meet-and-greet sessions, exclusive clinics, as well as live entertainment and interactive fan experiences.

Top NBA players, teams remain best-selling merchandise sellers in the Philippines

Superstars and big-ticket teams remain the top-selling merchandise sellers in the Philippines, based on the data the NBA shares heading into January 15.

The Lakers remain the top dog in the team merchandise sales, with its top player, Luka Dončić, being the top jersey seller, ahead of the new generation of ballers like Victor Wembanyama (2nd) and Anthony Edwards (3rd). Teammate LeBron James remains in the top five in fourth, with Steph Curry completing the quintet.

Even though they are currently sidelined due to injuries, the trio of Ja Morant (6th), Jayson Tatum (8th), and Kyrie Irving (10th) remain popular in the archipelago as top-ten jersey sellers, with Nikola Jokić (7th) and Jalen Brunson (9th) also present.

Traditional big market teams still rule the roost with regards to merchandise, with the Chicago Bulls in second place behind the Lakers. Completing the top five are the Golden State Warriors, the Boston Celtics, and the New York Knicks.

Disney+ set to broadcast the 2026 Ruffles® NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in the Philippines

Emirates NBA Cup a hit in the Asia-Pacific region

Fresh from the conclusion of the Emirates NBA Cup, where the New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs, 124-113, last December 17 (Manila time), at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the NBA shares that its in-season tournament generated major mileage in the Asia-Pacific region.

This season's edition of the Emirates NBA Cup produced its highest-ever total for engagements, impressions, and views on its various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube) since introducing the tournament in 2023:

4.8 million engagements (four times increase from last season)

119 million impressions (doubled from last season)

52.9 million video views (seven times increase from last season).

Of course, the Philippines and its love and appetite for basketball and the NBA drove the spike, reaffirming the league's view of the country as a vital hub for league's storytelling and engagement.

Based on contest posted at the NBA Philippines' social media channels on Facebook, TikTok, and X, Filipinos produced 4.2 million engagement (88% of total), 106 million impressions (89% of total), and 45.3 million views (86% of total)

With the matchup featuring two players with Filipino roots in Jordan Clarkson and Dylan Harper, the NBA Cup Final naturally had a local relevance to it.

NBA Philippines' reel that featured the 2021 Sixth Man of the Year winner generated 4.6 million impressions and reached 100% of NBA Philippines' followers.

Meanwhile, the reel that featured both Clarkson and Harper, the second overall pick in this year's NBA Draft generated 390 thousand impressions.

Clarkson in the win finished with fifteen points, including three triples, while adding a couple of rebounds, a steal and a block. Harper, on the other hand, led the Spurs in scoring with twenty-one markers, including five triples, as well as grabbed seven boards.

A new player has entered into the basketball coverage space this week.

Starting November 20, you can now watch the National Basketball Association on Disney+ Philippines, as part of the former's expanded relationship with The Walt Disney Company and ESPN.

NBA, TITAN open third NBA Store

The National Basketball Association officially has a foothold in the Greenhills complex, as the league, in partnership with Titanomachy International, Inc. (TITAN), opened its third NBA Store in Metro Manila on Wednesday, August 20. A variety of basketball content creators/influencers, as well as a few VIPs graced the proceedings, including former UAAP champions Von Pessumal, Isaac Go, and Gian Mamuyac, as well as UST alum Aljon Mariano.

Operated by the latter and located on the third floor of the GH Mall, the NBA Store features a comprehensive selection of official NBA and WNBA merchandise, including current and former player jerseys, fan apparel and outfits from head to toe, as well as a smorgasborg of items, accessories, and collectibles from a variety of major brands.

The 340+ sq. meter retail space also has NBA Philippines-branded apparel, including a special collection commemorating this particular launch, featuring four designs inspired by the unique elements present in the store.

In addition, the facility has a customization area for jerseys, t-shirts, and hoodies. Its footwear display incorporates various basketball court surfaces from all over the metro, and a locally-designed mural that is inspired by its circular-themed interior and the colors of our Philippine flag.

As part of the launch, a replica of the Larry O'Brien Trophy is present for a limited time this month, where fans can take a photo with the item hoisted by the NBA's champion.

Singapore set to host 2025 edition of Basketball Without Borders Asia Camp

The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) jointly announced that sixty individuals have been invited to participate in the fifteenth edition of the Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Asia Camp, which will take place at the Singapore Basketball Centre inside the city-state on June 19-22.

In announcing the location of BWB Asia 2025, NBA Senior Vice President and Head of International Basketball Operation Troy Justice says, "Bringing Basketball Without Borders back to Singapore reflects our commitment to growing the game in the country and across Asia-Pacific. This year’s camp is particularly special, as it will coincide with our new basketball and entertainment festival and the NBA Rising Stars Invitational, our first regional high-school basketball tournament.  We look forward to a memorable week of events that will leave a lasting impact on fans and players from across the region."

On FIBA's end, Head of Players Unit Kimberley Gaucher adds, "We are delighted that Basketball Without Borders Asia is being held this year in Singapore – a nation that has consistently demonstrated its ability to host world-class events like the FIBA Intercontinental Cup and the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup. BWB Asia offers an incredible platform to inspire and develop the next generation of basketball talent across the region, and we are confident that participants will gain invaluable experiences throughout the camp, learning meaningful lessons both on-and-off the court."

This will be the first time since 2010 that the BWB, which is the global basketball development and community will return to Singapore, which will serve as part of the NBA's multi-day immersive basketball and entertainment festival there. The activity will be capped off by the inauguration of the NBA Rising Stars Invitational, the league's first regional high school basketball tournament bringing together teams from eleven countries for both boys and girls. Action there will take place from June 25-29 at the Kallang Tennis Hub.

BWB Asia 2025 brings together thirty boys and thirty girls that are all 17 and under from across the region to learn and compete against each other, while also receiving coaching from current and former NBA and WNBA players and coaches.

The kids will be going through activities like movement efficiency drills, offensive and defensive skill stations, three-point contests, as well as 5-on-5 games.

For this batch, helping mentor these campers are 2024 NBA champion Derrick White (Boston Celtics) and 2024 NBA All-Star Tyrese Maxey (Philadelphia 76ers). Other notables set to share their knowledge are Duop Reath (Portland Trailblaers), 2025 FIBA Hall of Fame inductee Ticha Penicheiro, and NBA assistant coaches Vinay Bhavnani (Toronto Raptors), Jared Dudley (Dallas Mavericks), Ronald Nored (Atlanta Hawks) and Khalid Robinson (Golden State Warriors).

Maxey says about his upcoming obligations, "I’m excited to visit Singapore and be part of Basketball Without Borders for the first time. I look forward to working with the top young players in the region and sharing my knowledge and experiences with them."

Serving as camp director is World Association of Basketball Coaches president Patrick Hunt, while Katherine Babcock (Memphis Grizzlies) is its athletic trainer. 

Participants will also go through life-skills and leadership development sessions, as well as social responsibility programming during the camp.

To cap off the camp, a ceremony will take place to award the Kim Bohuny Camp MVP, the Patrick Baumann Sportsmanship Award, the Three-Point Champion and the Defensive MVP to the male and female players who distinguish themselves on the court and as leaders.

In addition, the NBA will hold a youth clinic for boys and girls on June 20 in conjunction with SportCares, the philanthropic arm of Sport Singapore with the objective of empowering individuals from vulnerable backgrounds through sport, as well as a coaches clinic the next day with FIBA.

Supplying the campers with apparel and footwear is Nike, which has been BWB's global partner since 2002.

BWB has already made inroads towards the NBA and WNBA, with 132 alums having made either league out of over 4600 participants from 144 countries and territories since its establishment in 2001, with 79 such camps staged in 53 cities across 33 countries. Notable alumni from the Asia-Pacific include Australians Josh Giddey (Chicago Bulls, BWB Asia 2018 and BWB Global 2020) and Josh Green (Charlotte Hornets, BWB Global 2018) and Japanese forward Rui Hachimura (Los Angeles Lakers, BWB Global 2016).

For BWB Asia 2025, three Filipinos have been invited.

NU-Nazareth School student-athletes Zaydhen Rosano and Rob Celiz, as well as Bacolod Tay Tung standout Paul Barcelona have been picked to join the sixty-player camp. Rosano and Celiz were vital in the Bullpups earning their spots in the NBA Rising Stars Invitational for both boys and girls, while Barcelona is fresh from reinforcing Western Visayas’ silver medal finish at the recently-concluded Palarong Pambansa in Laoag City.
