Sunday afternoon is bound to be action-filled, as the Finals of the 99th Season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association of the Philippines is set to commence at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan, with the defending champions hopeful to keep their immaculate records flawless.
The men's matchup kicks off the doubleheader, with the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta going up against Emilio Aguinaldo College at noon.
Mentored by Sammy Acaylar, the Altas are seeking their fourth straight tournament title, with the trio of Louie Ramirez, Jeff Marapoc, and John Pepito have steered the ship.
On the other hand, the Generals earned their spot in the finals by squeaking past Letran in the semifinals, 30-28, 25-15, 19-25, 28-26. In the process, they ended an eight-year wait after they made the finals.
Under the leadership of Rod Palmero, the troika of Ervin Osabel, John Ruther Abor, and Marvin Romero hope to give the school their second-ever title.
At 230pm, the women's matchup takes the stage, with the Strong Group Athletics-affiliated teams facing off.
The College of Saint Benilde hopes to extend their reign for a third straight season, with Jerry Yee relying on Cloanne Mondonedo, Gayle Pascual, and Mich Gamit to anchor the Lady Blazers.
Serving as the foil this time around is Letran, who ended a twelve-year drought by defeating Lyceum in the semifinals, 25-15, 25-21, 19-25, 19-25, 15-11. Oliver Almadro seeks to defy the odds with the core of Gia Maquilang, Lara Mae Silva, and Judiel Nitura for the Lady Knights.
Both finals matchups are set to be broadcast LIVE on GTV, as well as on the social media platforms of GMA Sports and NCAA Philippines.
