ESPN5 Boxing reveals Ultimate Boxing Series: Kamaong Pinoy

TV5 has remained committed to the development of local boxing, and to highlight such devotion, they have teamed up with Gerry Penalosa's boxing promotion, Gerrypens Promotions, to craft together a boxing tournament training program, entitled Ultimate Boxing Series: Kamaong Pinoy.

Scheduled to premiere in June 2019 on ESPN5, it involves ten boxers each in the flyweight and bantamweight divisions. Eight of those boxers will be taking part in a knockout tournament, with the remaining two fighting in a swing bout that serves as a reserve in case a replacement is needed.

The finalists in each division will be fighting as a co-main event in the upcoming GerryPens fight card in August that has Carlo Penalosa facing Maximino Flores for the IBO flyweight title.

In addition to the fights, which will feature one per episode, it also highlights the fighters' training and conditioning, as well as their motivations, whether it's their loved ones, families, or eventually becoming the next champion.

As such, each episode will feature not just how they fight and the process of getting there, especially since all will be housed in one facility that Sports5 carved out of their Novaliches complex, but also why they do so and who are they fighting for.

Gerry Penalosa shares about the concept of the UBS: KP, "Ang Kamaong Pinoy ay hindi lang panglaban, ito rin ay pang-protekta ng mga mahal sa buhay,” (The Pinoy boxer’s fist is not only for fighting, but also for protecting the ones they love).

TV5 President Chot Reyes adds, "The Filipino boxing scene has never been this exciting. The search for the next dominant Pinoy boxer can come from anywhere and bring something new to the table – a new stable, a new boxing style, a new motivation.
