Carmona hosts YFL U15 matches

Speed Regalo Youth Football League opened its U15 Division action at Carmona

The Under-15 division of the 2019 Speed Regalo Youth Football League kicked off this past Sunday at the pitches inside the Manila Jockey Club in Carmona, with several teams securing victories.

Kaya Elite defeated Ceres South, 4-1, with Kaya toting a 3-1 halftime lead. Ceres relied on their counter-attacking game, but Kaya netted an additional goal in the second half for the final score.

The newly-revived Bohemian Sporting Club, being mentored by former Philippines international Jason de Jong, cruised past Mendiola, 3-0. One of those goals came off an indirect free kick, with their discipline allowing the squad to maintain a clean sheet.

Even with that result, de Jong still believes that they can still be better, noting, "I think we could use the wings way better because most of the time its very open on the sides and the finishing let us down a little bit because I think we had two or three open chances one-on-one."

MSA-Agila earned a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Forza, with MSA General Manager Mike Andan remarking, "It’s a typical first game of the season. Both teams are trying to get to know each other’s game and you would see a back-and-forth, well-balanced first game."

Loyola FC defeated Kaya FC Academy's 04-05 age group, 3-0, a result that pleased head coach Roxy Dorlas. He remarked, post-match, "I think the most important thing here right now is with the preparation we had, it’s important that we came out with the desire to be winning. It’s been a very short preparation as most of our players here have been competing in different competitions."

Completing things in the Under-15 division is Apuesto Bueno's 5-1 win over Laos FC.

The 2019 Speed Regalo Youth Football League will resume on April 9, with simultaneous games at the Ayala Alabang Country Club and at the Manila Jockey Club in Carmona.

Speed Regalo Youth Football League set for March 31 launch

The 2019 Speed Regalo Youth Football League (YFL) is set to kick off its tournament at the Ayala Alabang Country Club on March 31, with twenty teams fielding squads across a variety of age bracket divisions.

The YFL is an offshoot of the United Football League-Youth tournament, since it is also organized by the Football Alliance, which had organized the UFL for many years.

YFL President Mike Atayde says, "I think most of the club members are all quite excited to start YFL season 2019. We have a lot more teams this year and a lot more kids involved, so I hope we can deliver the kind of competition level everyone is expecting, so I guess those are the things we want to make sure will happen."

Kicking off action on the 31st are matches in the Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, and Under-13, with the Under-15 and Under-17 getting their turn on April 7.

Eventually, all matches will take place at the football facilities inside the Manila Jockey Club at Carmona, Cavite.

As a precursor to the tournament, the YFL held a one-day football festival back in March 10. In addition, the league is also set to have additional events this year, led by the YFL Cup. It is also to have regional tournaments at nine locations nationwide, with an invitational tounament and a national championship to end the year.
