DEFENDING champion National University opens its UAAP women's volleyball second round campaign against De La Salle on Sunday, the league released its schedule Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Bulldogs jumpstarted their dominant seven-match sweep of the first round with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-18 romp on opening weekend last Feb. 16.

NU and La Salle, the league's last two champions, collide at 5 p.m., right after traditional rivals University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University collide at 1 p.m. at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Tickets for the Sunday women's doubleheader are sold separately.

The Tigresses, who lost to the Lady Bulldogs, 25-23, 17-25, 25-19, 18-25, 9-15, in last Sunday's Finals rematch, and the Lady Spikers are tied in second and third place at 5-2.

The Lady Tamaraws sit in solo fourth with a 4-3 record.

Second round action will begin on Saturday at the bayside Pasay arena with the "Battle of Katipunan" between University of the Philippines and Ateneo at 4 p.m. Adamson University and University of the East open hostilities at 2 p.m.

The Fighting Maroons hold a 3-4 record in fifth place, one game out of the No. 4 spot. The Lady Falcons and the Blue Eagles tote similar 2-5 slates, while the Lady Warriors are without a win to show in seven matches.

In the men's division, unbeaten FEU and UST collide at 11 a.m. on Sunday, right after five-peat-seeking NU and La Salle clash at 9 a.m.

On Saturday, UP and Ateneo duke it out at 12 noon, while Adamson and UE slug it out at 10 a.m.

With a 7-0 card, the Tamaraws are enjoying their finest start since 2019, while the Bulldogs are in second spot at 6-1.

The Golden Spikers, the Green Spikers and the Blue Eagles are in a three-way logjam from third to fifth at 4-3.

The Fighting Maroons are in sixth place with a 2-5 record, while the Falcons and the Red Warriors have 1-6 and 0-7 records, respectively.
