The UAAP Season 87 softball match between University of Santo Tomas and Ateneo de Manila University was halted at the bottom of the third inning due to rain, Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
Cheif umpire Jun Cruz made the call to suspend the game after an hour-long delay.
The match will be rescheduled and restarted on a yet-to-be-announced date, as determined by event sub-host Adamson University.
To mitigate the effects of extreme heat, the league has adjusted game times, beginning Saturday, with matches now set for 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, 11-time defending champion Adamson dominated the first game of the day, defeating University of the Philippines 12-4 in six innings.
Tuesday’s schedule will proceed as planned, with UP facing UST at 8 a.m., followed by Adamson taking on De La Salle University at 10 a.m.
