The fifth and final day of the WFDF 2023 Asia Oceanic Ultimate & Guts Championships took place on Sunday at the Ayala Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa, with title matches and placement games for three divisions: Open, Women's, and Mixed.
The Philippines, represented by Pilipinas Ultimate, earned a shot at the title after winning its semifinal matches on Saturday, defeating Malaysia in the morning for the quarterfinals, 15-7, and Koels in the afternoon for the semifinals, 15-8. It was their first finals appearance since 2013.
Standing in their way is Australia, who also ran through their campaign undefeated. The Aussies handled China in the quarterfinals. 15-5, and fended off Japan in the semifinals, 13-11.
In a tightly contested match, where Australia managed to come close, 11-10, late in the second half, Pilipinas Ultimate held on and claimed the victory and an undefeated stint, 15-12.
Japan secured third place with a 13-11 win over Koels.
Australia will not come home without a trophy on the final day, as they went on to claim Women's Division title with an 11-10 victory over Japan.
Capping off the activities is MÄnuka defeating Australia for the Mixed Division title, 15-11.
Organized by the Philippine Flying Disc Association, the 2023 edition of the AOUGC is part of the World Flying Disc Federation's activities for the current year.
