Yokohama enters local football foray with Yokohama Football Cup

Yokohama Football Cup
A couple of weeks ago, Yokohama Tire Sales Philippines (YTSP) kick off its initial foray into grassroots football with the Yokohama Football Cup, a two-day tournament involving over a hundred clubs.

Shawn Pamintuan, marketing head for YTSP, shared his fascination for the event, given the turnout of individuals and participants in the event. Yokohama was a minor sponsor in the PBA, and is looking at other means of building the brand to a larger audience. Since it is the current shirt sponsor for the newly-mind Premier League champions Chelsea, football became a plausible means for the company to dive into. In coordination with Cathy Nazareno of CAN Sports, the Yokohama Football Cup was established.

According to YTSP president Satoshi Hariyama, "Sports have always been close to the heart of Yokohama. The effort and discipline that athletes put in to improve their skills can be likened to exacting dedication of Yokohama in consistently producing quality tires. We hope to highlight this similarity in supporting football in the Philippines."
