Kaya FC heads up north to go up against an Ilocos United squad seeking their first win of the season.
The club is fresh from a 3-1 loss to Global Cebu FC, although they would have had an additional match this past weekend against JPV Marikina FC, if not for a postponement.
Head coach Noel Marcaida promises that the team will give the fans "an exciting game" and can "expect a great atmosphere" when both teams face off. This is their first true road game of the season for the squad, going outside of Metro Manila for the first time this season. Marcaida adds that the team benefited from the postponement, since it bought them more time to recuperate. It also allowed the team to be in full strength for this matchup.
Club skipper Aly Borromeo is not taking the newcomers lightly, noting that they are
not looking at them as a pushover team." He adds, "It will be a good battle. It's going to be a good game."
Ilocos has had a two-week layoff since a 2-1 loss to FC Meralco Manila last May 13. According to their head coach, Ian Gillan, "There is no pressure upon us. We're like the underdog every week, whereas Kaya will be looking to be among the top three. If they don't become among the top three teams, their season will be a failure."
