ONE Championship sets up its ONE: Dynasty of Heroes event

ONE Championship officially revealed its slate of matches for its upcoming event, ONE: Dynasty of Heroes, which will take place on May 26 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The main event for ONE: Dynasty of Heroes pits the current ONE Women's Atomweight champion Angela Lee against Istela Nunes, while serving as the co-main event sees the current ONE Welterweight champion Ben Askren against Agilan Thani.

Here is ONE Championship CEO Victor Cui's thoughts about ONE: Dynasty of Heroes: "We have an absolutely stacked card from top to bottom planned for Singapore, and it will be a night fans will not want to miss. Angela Lee, ever the true champion and warrior, just came off a thrilling performance a little over a month ago and she is already raring to get back inside the ONE Championship to perform for her hometown crowd. On the other side of the cage, Istela Nunes is ready to give Lee a stiff challenge as the division’s top contender. Also, welterweight superstar Ben Askren is back and he’s ready to welcome the young Agilan Thani to the upper echelon of the division."

The match-ups for ONE: Dynasty of Heroes are as follows:

Angela Lee vs Istela Nunes
Ben Askren vs Agilan Thani
Shinya Aoki vs Gary Tonon
Amir Khan vs Rajinder Singh Meena
Luis Santos vs Vuyisile Colossa
Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke vs Adrian Matheis

The "Unstoppable" Lee is one of ONE Championship's most outstanding athletes, remaining unbeaten in ONE Championship matches, including a dominant performance against Jenny Huang in her title defense. Her combination of elite striking and grappling skills will be tested against the unbeaten Nunes, a well-rounded fighter with a solid striking and grappling skill set. The Brazilian just beat via split decision Mei Yamaguchi, whom Lee defeated for the title.

"Funky" Askren is considered as a collegiate wrestling legend and is one of the finest mixed martial artists in the world, seizing the welterweight title against Nobutatsu Suzuki. He will be defending the title against the undefeated "Alligator." The Kuala Lumpur native has won all of his seven matches, with five of them ending in the first round. He earned the title shot with a submission win over veteran welterweight Jeff Huang.

"Tobikan Judan" Aoki is among the most decorated mixed martial artists, as a DREAM Lightweight Champion, a former Shooto Welterweight Champion, and until last year, the ONE Championship Lightweight World Champion. He owns a black belt in Brazilian jiu-itsu and judo, and has won multiple grappling tournaments worldwide. He will be engaging in a Grappling Super-Match against "The Lion Killer," a No Gi specialist and a bonafide grappling superstar. Tonon has clinched multiple world titles in the IBJJF and Pan American Championships and is a noted participant in submission-only tournaments like the Metamoris, Polaris, and the Eddie Bravo Invitational.

Amir Khan is one of the most promising Singaporean prospects in MMA and is currently on a three-fight winning streak, including a third-round submission over Vaughn Donayre. He will be tested in a lightweight division matchup against "Knockout" Singh Meena, whose eight wins all came via stoppage, five of which came through submission.

With over 70 fights on his record, "Sapo" is a mixed martial arts veteran that is considered to be among ONE Championship's most overwhelming physical specimens, one that can finish a match in a variety of ways anytime. His aggressiveness and brute strength will be challenged against "The Cheetah." The 34-year-old Colossa totes an 8-5 record, he spent three years in hiatus before making his return in two matches last year.

Dejdamrong is a three-time Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai world champion and a former ONE Strawweight World Champion, with over 25 years of competitive experience. Known as a technical striker, he employs some of the most unique and creative striking combinations in the sport. He will face Adrian Matheis, who claimed the strawweight tournament title at ONE: Titles and Titans last year by knocking out Rustam Hutajulu and Roso Nugroho in succession.

Known as the "Soul Crusher," Teo is currently undefeated after five professional fights, the last three being under ONE Championship auspices. She will be tested against Heintzman, who faced off against Lee the last time she fought in ONE Championship.

"Tinydoll" Ishige started off her martial arts training at the age of nine with aikido and taekwondo, then made the move to mixed martial arts, eventually winner her ONE Championship debut against Audreylara Boniface. She now will face off against Jomary Torres, who will be making her ONE Championship debut, after marking her MMA debut with a unanimous decision win over Krisna Lindaga.
